Gucci’s new “Dionysus” bag ($1,980) features beautifully quilted leather and a magnetic tab closure with a tiger head spur. According to Greek mythology, Dionysus was the Olympian god of wine, vegetation, pleasure, festivity, madness and wild frenzy. The sacred animals of Dionysus are the panther, bull and serpent. The tiger head closure references the bag’s namesake who in myth is said to have crossed the river Tigris on a tiger sent to him by Zeus.
