This original abstract artwork is hand-painted acrylic on canvas by American artist Drake. A field of ovals holds its own against a gold, brown, and aqua scene. Wavy red lines and pale blue circles add depth to the design. Because each is painted completely by hand, only 20 pieces are available. Each painting is signed by the artist and includes a certificate of authenticity. Slight variations may be present, due to the original nature of the art.
The changing colors of the seasons and the cool breezes off Lake Michigan near her childhood home in Wisconsin invited Drake to observe and study the subtle play of light and shadow as they defined her world. After studying in Paris, Drake taught art at the university level for ten years. Drawn to the unconventional and post-modern, she looks to Lesley Dill, Anselm Kiefer, and Kiki Smith for her inspiration, and also admires the work of Lucien Freud and Renee Stout.
