Carlo e Camilla in Segheria

Industrial glam is the name of the atmosphere here. You probably haven’t heard of Carlo Cracco, but he’s a household name in Italy–he’s a star of MasterChef Italia and host of Hell’s Kitchen Italia, and his Ristorante Cracco in Milan has two Michelin stars. Now Cracco has opened a second Milan establishment, Carlo e Camilla in Segheria, with a more affordably priced (though still brilliant) menu. Housed in a former sawmill (segheria in Italian), the place owes its hot-spot status as much to the design as to the cuisine: Cathedral ceilings and rough-hewn industrial walls surround vintage chandeliers, designer chairs, and a dramatic table that seats 70. The food (handmade agnolotti with eggplant, lettuce, and crispy ham) is reliably delicious, but the space and the drinks–like the Not Ordinary Mule, with ginger, lime, fresh mint, turmeric, and gin–really steal the show.
