New York locals and visitors have watched in anticipation over the past four years as one of the city’s most famed hotels, The Pierre, underwent a $100 million renovation after its purchase by Taj Hotels. Rates begin at $895 at the luxury hotel. The Pierre reopened in the fall with 11 new Grand Suites, including the two-bedroom 1,980-square-foot Presidential Suite, all with sweeping views of Central Park. The one-bedroom Getty Suite, named for the oil baron John Paul Getty who purchased the hotel in 1938, has one of only two terraces at the hotel, and is suited for outdoor entertaining. Each of the one- and two-bedroom suites has been uniquely designed and decorated with custom, handcrafted finishes, silk fabrics, Murano-glass chandeliers, and home-theater systems. Staff outnumber guests by a ratio of three to one, allowing them to focus on anticipating the guest’s every need.
