is an incredible running shoe (it is in its 17th incarnation), we just ordered another pair and feel the need to sing some praise about it.
First, a little history about the company. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,” which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body.” Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness.
The 17th version of the ASICS GEL-Kayano running shoe maintains the classic ride and platform comfort that has made the series an icon. Mesh and synthetic leather upper. Asymmetrical lacing design helps reduce the potential for irritation and offers improved comfort and fit. ComforDry™ sockliner provides cushioning performance and antimicrobial properties for a cooler, drier, healthier environment. Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.) employs linked componentry that enhances the foot’s natural gait from heel strike to toe-off. Guidance Line vertical flex grooves decouple the tooling along the line of progression for enhanced gait efficiency. Discrete Heel Unit takes the I.G.S. to a new level by creating the highest degree of shock attenuation and stability. Space Trusstic System® creates a pocket between the Trusstic system device and the midsole, allowing for controlled midsole deformation and more efficient foot function. DuoMax® support system is positioned to enhance support and stability.
